Keeping the romance alive

IMG_2334When meeting someone you care about, it’s easy for things to be exciting in the beginning and fade as time goes on. You need to make a conscious effort to do the things that made the relationship exciting in the beginning. Soft music, candles, picnic lunches, taking time to talk and really listen to each other. Surprise that special someone with something not expected. Let them know that you are thinking about them when they are not around, a silly text, email or a quick phone call. Humor goes a long way! Try to keep things interesting and don’t fall into a rut. Try cooking a special dinner together once a week, have a date night, exercise together, go to concerts, movies, take a mini vacation. Keep things exciting by doing a variety of things rather than the same thing all of the time. Remember when you first started dating, trying on 10 different outfits trying to decide what to wear? Take time to make yourself look special. Have secret words or looks for just the two of you. Compliment the other person in front of your friends or anywhere in public. Touching and embracing are very important as well as praising the other person and remember to thank them for all the little things they do for you. This all takes some effort on both sides, but well worth it.
