What do the kids think?

When seniors venture into the dating arena, many have grown children that have their own opinions about what their parent is up to. There are many different viewpoints on this topic, some positive and some negative.

I have met women that claim that their daughter is the one who wrote their on line profile as a way to encourage them to get out there. There is nothing wrong with this approach because the child probably knows their mother well.

Other children may actually disapprove of their parent dating. A common reason for this is financial as the child fears that a new step parent may cut into their potential inheritance.

Seniors deserve to enjoy their own lives and should not avoid dating just to please their children. The only justification for a child to object to their parent dating is if the parent suffers from dementia or Alzheimer’s. If this is not the case, then adult children may voice concerns about a particular date, but not object to dating in principle.

I think in reality, our children are responsible for their own life. They make their choices, we make ours. I do not consider my daughter in a relationship, she only wants me to be happy
